Aqua Safe Swim School has a great name for an excellent swim school. We have an amazing track record of SUCCESS while teaching safety & swim skills in OUR PROVEN METHOD. We deliver fantastic results, saving parents time and money. Our Owner, Miriam has developed a unique PROVEN METHOD, culled from 30 years’ experience and research which allows our clients to progress quickly. Many kids pass 1.5 to 2 levels instead of the typical one level. We enjoy many REPEAT families and have taught thousands of happy customers. Our amazing instructors have undergone a rigorous training and have proven to be successful. See more below.

In addition to teaching mainstream clients, we specialize in children & adults with anxiety, special needs, phobias etc. Miriam specializes in a unique technique: Water Survival Training-for toddlers and kids to swim across the pool to safety. See more below.

An average child, usually passes one level or more than one (sometimes 2) levels with a session of 6 classes. We teach swim and safety skills in a fun way, and the kids love it! One mother wrote that she she HAD to send her kid for 4 summers, even though he learnt the skills in 2 summers
he insisted on coming more since he LOVED it.

Yes, all of our pools are heated so the clients can get right into the pool and start their lessons in comfort.

Most group classes are 1:7.

Ages 3-5.5 is 1:6

WST-Water Survival Training for toddlers & children 1:1

Semi Private Lessons are 1:2

Mini Group Classes are 1:3 or 1:4 or 1:5, your choice.

If you’ve never had swim lessons for your child, and he/she is not nervous, we can assume he/she would do OK in a group setting. If your child is more anxious, sensory or very shy, they would do better in a private or semi- private class. If they haven’t succeeded in the past, in a group setting, it would be wise to try a private or semi-private class. Also, if you want your child to progress quickly, and have him/her jump several levels, eliminating time and energy to get to the pool, then private or semi-private is a great way to accomplish that.

Semi private class, with two clients together, affords the opportunity of healthy competition. Often, when one client does something, the other wants to do the same to keep up. It is also more affordable than private classes. This is perfect if your child started lessons late and needs to catch up to his peers and for those who did not do well in a group setting. We maximize the time, and teach both children together for most skills, and individualize as needed.

Private classes are for when you want the whole 30 minutes just for your child. This gives your child the maximum attention for the maximum time. when you want alleviate the inconvenience of coming to the pool more often.

Miriam specializes in WST-Water Survival Training for toddlers and children of all ages. If you are a pool owner, or frequently go to pools, you want your toddler/child to know how to swim across the water to safety, no matter the age. Miriam works individually with these younger clients, starting from 12 months of age, with limited slots. Our goal is to teach your child to swim, float, swim. Or swim, breathe, swim. We also teach how to exit the pool, strengthen fingers to “walk” across the pool, from the inside of the pool), prepare them for water accidents thru simulation, and more. Recommended amount of time is based on age: 1 to 3 years: 20 minutes, 15-18 class. 4 years and up: 30 minutes (20 minutes is ok too), 12 classes. Different clients advance differently, depending on the nature of the child and water comfort.

That is exactly what we specialize in! Our instructors are trained to work with clients who have not succeeded yet. For very challenged clients, Miriam, the owner, can work with them if she has availability. Since we are in demand and have limited slots, we highly recommend you book early. Best is to book early: March, April or May. Your child would best learn in a private setting, with lots of patience and reassuring. We work hard to get your child swimming and we most often succeed.

We offer limited amounts of “Family Classes”, where we will do all of your children, max 6. No worries about being on different levels, we will maximize our time by teaching some skills together, then switching off, teaching individually while keeping the others practicing.

Don’t worry! We pride ourselves in individualizing, within the group. We maximize our classes, and make every minute count. We teach skills with everyone together, and then we individualize and work with the weaker students as well as with the students that are ahead. We do not let anyone stagnate. We feel fulfilled when each child has gained their maximum in each class.

Goggles are preferred, but not required. Some kids, especially, kids with sensory issues, who don’t like their eyes getting wet, work better with goggles. For kids who do not do well with regular goggles, are annoyed with water entering their nose, I highly recommend the goggles that cover the eyes and nose, similar to a diving/scuba mask. I find that it is well worth buying a decent brand, for it to work well (Speedo etc)

The girls need a bathing cap to contain their hair. This helps during the actual lessons-the hairs do not “get in the way”.

The cap also protects your hair from chlorine. Bathing caps helps the filtration in the pool too.

We have a No make-up policy. However, we will offer one free make-up class, mid July. See Policies for more details

Aqua Safe is proud to say that we are extremely “picky” when we hire new instructors. Our instructors usually have experience working with children, are happy, positive, smart, quick and capable. They go through a rigorous training with the owner, Miriam Buckwold. The course is generally more than 50 hours, individually, with constant support and ongoing learning. This can’t be compared to they typical American Red Cross WSI Course which is about 30 hours of training, along with 5-15 other participants. Our instructors continue their training, mostly working with other clients as an assistant, until they are ready to “graduate” and become Aqua Safe-WSI Instructors.
